Cherry Lane students were entertained from March 2-6, as the school celebrated Read Across America week to promote a love for reading.

The week kicked off on Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a parade around the school that showcased favorite books. Students then took a reader’s oath and began their read-a-thon. They celebrated their reading stamina which they worked hard to develop.

Each day students and staff dressed and participated in activities that focused on the day’s theme, which included “cozy up with a good book,” “Fox in Socks,” “Oh! The Places You’ll Go,” and “dress like your favorite storybook character.”

Author Brian Heinz visited the school and shared some of his hilarious adventures.  It was a wonderful celebration of literacy for the school’s youngest learners.
