Carle Place pride grew by leaps and bounds this year during the district’s Spirit Week and homecoming celebrations. Students at the middle and high schools kicked off the festivities on Oct. 21 with Roll Out of Bed Day and continued with Touch of Class Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday and Touchdown Thursday. In keeping with this year’s homecoming theme, “Leaping Around the World,” students from each grade dressed according to their assigned country on Friday. The middle school represented Italy; the ninth-grade, Egypt; the 10th-grade, Spain; the 11th-grade, England; and the 12th-grade, the United States.

That afternoon, the two schools joined together for a vibrant pep rally during which the athletic teams were introduced and cheered on by students, faculty and staff. Each grade presented their original banner for all to see, decorated to match their appointed country. Students also participated in mini-games and were dazzled by outstanding performances by the varsity cheerleading squad.

The Carle Place Frogs varsity football team took the spotlight Friday evening in their homecoming game against the Cold Spring Harbor Sea Hawks. The team proved victorious, winning 33-14. During halftime, the Class of 1983 – which is celebrating its 30-year anniversary – was recognized. The senior class was announced as the winners of the banner contest, and students Timothy Leung and Anjelica Pisacone were named homecoming king and queen, respectively.
