This November, the Carle Place High School Key Club sponsored a blood drive in conjunction with the New York Blood Center. The biannual event attracted 65 participant donors throughout the course of the day. Club members dressed as blood drops and as the school’s mascot, the Carle Place frog, and walked around the school encouraging people to donate.

“We had a great percentage of response for a school of this size,” said Key Club President Rachael Martines. “Many people are donating in honor of a local family that has a child with pediatric cancer who requires several blood transfusions. It’s nice to know that we can help facilitate something which will in turn save someone’s life.”

The Key Club, which has approximately 100 student members in grades 9-12, is the high school’s largest service organization.
