Snow Globes of Cheer

Third-grade students in Kara Stobe’s art class at Rushmore Avenue School in the Carle Place School District are getting into the holiday spirit this month with a snow globe project.

“It’s all about paying it forward and realizing that everyone has the potential to change someone’s life for the better,” said Stobe of the project. “If we work to instill confidence in our children and their ideas, they learn to believe in themselves. Eventually, they will discover that their actions have the power to give hope to others.”

Together, students brainstormed ways to create visual representations of the magic of winter and what it means to them. They then included those inspirational words and phrases in the creation of paper snow globes. The end result was a mini-winter wonderland scene with big messages about spreading joy, sharing laughter and warming the hearts of others.

“So many families have struggles, especially during the holidays,” said Stobe. “It’s important for us to bring joy to others in any way we can.”
