Cherry Lane Celebrates Reading

Families are coming together to celebrate reading this month as part of Cherry Lane Elementary School’s observation of the Parents as Reading Partners program. PARP encourages parents to read with their children for at least 15 minutes daily and emphasizes that reading can be fun as well as informative.

“There are a number of activities for students to participate in this month that encourage reading,” said principal Marilyn Manfredi. “We are having a book show, author visit, read-in and more.” Additionally, students are asked to share their favorite books with their peers and discover new titles to love as part of the school’s annual book swap.

“I like to read because I am able to learn new things,” said one student. “It gives me a bigger imagination.”
