Fashion Fundraiser for a Friend

More than 90 Carle Place students, staff, alumni and parents participated in the annual Carle Place High School Key Club Fashion Show on April 25, which raised $4,495 for the Stephen Fay Memorial Fund. Stephen, a 2010 Carle Place High School graduate, was struck and killed by a truck driver on his way to school in June 2012.

“The fashion show is one of my favorite events of the year,” said junior Pedro Duarte. “It is originally what got me involved in the Key Club. The show is a great way to demonstrate what the club really is about – helping others and raising awareness to local causes.”
“I was so nervous to walk the catwalk as a freshman,” said junior and Key Club public relations representative Shannon Weilert. “Having just completed my third fashion show, I now realize that I love being on stage and have so much fun while benefiting an amazing cause.”

The Stephen Fay Memorial Fund is a non-profit organization that dedicates funds to Carle Place student scholarships annually in memory of Stephen. It also helps cover medical expenses for those in need in Nassau County as a result of a motor vehicle accident and advocates for stricter legislative action concerning unlicensed motor vehicle drivers.
