Members of the high school SPARC/Interact Club have been packaging smiles for others as part of their recent service projects. The group made 50 spring-themed goody bags that were distributed to local children by St. Brigid's Parish Outreach. Nine students assembled the festive gift bags, which included chocolate bunnies, candy-filled eggs, colored grass and friendly cards offering good wishes for a happy spring.

The SPARC/Interact Club also participated in a schoolwide effort to bring cheer to U.S. soldiers serving in the Middle East, including Class of 2012 graduate Jonathan Medina. The members created cards of support and thanks inside entertainment gift bags containing pens, crossword puzzle books, magnifying glasses, socks and personal care items. High school assistant principal Gerald Barrata mailed the kits to Jonathan’s troop.

“It feels really great to get to help American troops overseas,” said SPARC officer Sabrina Feit. “It’s important to remind them that someone's thinking of them back home.”
