Administrators, teachers, friends and family gathered at the middle school on June 27 to congratulate 109 eighth-graders as they move on to high school.

“Time will go by in the blink of an eye,” said Superintendent of Schools David Flatley in his address to the students. “Take advantage of your four years ahead.”

Student Samantha Mannarino also addressed her peers, telling them, “Everything you have done so far has shaped you into who you are and who you will become over the next four years.”

Several school ensembles provided musical entertainment for the ceremony, with the middle school orchestra performing Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” the middle school band performing Ides of March’s “Vehicle,” and the middle school chorus singing “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion and “We’re All in This Together” from “High School Musical.”

Rounding out the ceremony, Principal Thomas DePaola spoke to the students about their future, pointing out the accomplishments of the graduating seniors.

“I want you to find your own niche just like them,” he said, “and get ready for a great experience in high school.”
