Author, Unplugged

Students in Melissa Mehling’s ninth-grade honors class were visited by author Maddy Lederman, who wrote Edna In The Desert. The students read the book, about a girl who is forced to be “unplugged” from her cellphone, as part of a summer reading assignment. The author sat with the students for an entire class period and discussed her inspiration for the book and the importance of “unplugging” every now and then.
