Habitat for Humanity

Nine students from the SPARC/Interact Club braved the cold and 6-inch snowfall to participate in a Habitat-for-Humanity house-build in Roosevelt on Saturday, March 21st. Working together with club advisor Mr. Morris, Mrs. Morris, and students and teachers from Mineola High School, the students raised $700 to help offset the $35,000 overall cost to refurbish the previously abandoned house. Projects included: clearing snow prior to removing debris from the yard, painting and insulating the basement, breaking up concrete to make way for a new driveway, installing basement window wells, and installing a new chain-link fence. Students worked side by side with Michelle, who along with her two teenage boys, will occupy the house upon its completion later this spring. The Carle Place builders are: James Tumino, Connor Feit, Blaise Basso, Sean Murphy, Tom Monahan, Lydia Rice, Jack LoGrasso, Ryan Tamarro, and Liam Lofgren.
