Pennies for Patients

Seventh-grade students at CPMS kicked off their annual service learning initiative to benefit the Pennies for Patients program sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Students began by learning about blood diseases in health classes and then spoke with a blood cancer survivor who shared how the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society assisted through the difficult time. Students will be required to complete a lesson in their math classes which will challenge them to explore volume and surface area through measurement. They will then collect coins over a three week period and calculate the totals and averages for each class in their grade, graph their data, and donate their proceeds to LLS.
