Thirteen members of the Sparc/Interact club donated their time and talents  on Saturday May 21st  at Flushing Meadow Park in Queens. Working together with students from our SPARC partner school, Mineola HS, the students planted over 400 indigenous trees on a large berm designed to shield the tidal pond in Flushing Meadow from noise, air and rain pollution created by the adjacent Grand Central Parkway. SPARC’s efforts were part of the NYC Plant a Million Trees Project in honor of Arbor Day, celebrated  earlier in April. The Carle Place gardeners are: James Tumino, Emily Cotter, Nicole Butino, Michael Coulter, Patricia Graca, Michael Correia, Marcus Henriques, Rosemary Lin, Mohamed Loirraqi, Tom Deignan, Tahiya Azrati and Rosie Norman. Club advisor is Kieran Morris.
