As part of its ongoing character education and observance of October as National Bully Prevention Month, Rushmore welcomed members of the Tourette Association Youth Ambassador group for a special assembly. The ambassadors explained what Tourette’s syndrome is, and discussed with students its effects and common misconceptions. They shared personal stories about the challenges associated with the disorder, and led students through interactive activites to demonstrate some of the experiences that individuals with Tourette’s have. Students learned about the importance of practicing empathy, compassion and patience through all facets of life.
