In honor of one member of its student body who lives with a rare genetic condition known as Koolen-de Vries Syndrome, students and staff at Cherry Lane participated in “Wear Jeans for Rare Genes,” a fundraising program designed to heighten awareness of it. Together, they raised $350 to donate to the Kool Kid Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports people living with the condition, which affects five children on Long Island.
