Carle Place MS/HS Builders Club members participated in the Long Island Autism Speaks Walk at Jones Beach on Oct. 14. The walk is a part of a national effort coordinated through the Autism Speaks organization to raise awareness about autism.

The Builders Club members walked a little over 5 miles to show their support and spread awareness for autism research. It was quite a sight, seeing everyone walking along the boardwalk for the same cause! In addition to walking at Jones Beach, the Builders Club hosted a bake sale and fundraised to donate to Autism Speaks. There was a delicious assortment of pastries, donuts, muffins and cookies sold at the bake sale, totaling $300.

According to its website, Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families. This is done through public service messaging, a global focus on research and the development of solutions, fundraising and more.

Thank you to all who supported the Builders Club by purchasing treats at the bake sale!
