Celebrating Past and Present at Homecoming

Carle Place Middle/High School hosted homecoming 2018 festivities on Friday, Oct. 19, culminating a festive and spirited week around the district.

The community came together for an evening of food, fun and “Friday Night Lights” as the Carle Place-Wheatley varsity football Wild Frogs hosted the Locust Valley Falcons. Students, families and district staff members showcased their school spirit by wearing green in the stands and along the sidelines. Student and parent organizations also sold sportwear, school pennants, food, refreshments and other items of interest to raise funds for various student activities.

Traditional halftime festivities featured entertaining performances by the cheerleaders, followed by themed song and dance performances given by each high school grade and the middle school, as students showcased their talents while celebrating past decades. The student body also received a sneak preview of this show during the afternoon pep rally, held in the gymnasium.

Juniors were awarded the best skit and banner honors for their “Leaping Through the 50s” presentation. James Reardon and Gabriella Deninno were crowned homecoming king and queen, respectively. Unfortunately, the Falcons prevailed on the gridiron, avenging last year’s homecoming loss to the Wild Frogs. The drumline kicked off the evening’s festivities, while the pep band entertained the audience throughout the evening. The field hockey team was also honored earlier in the day for its pep rally performance of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies.”

Special thanks to Ms. Fallik and Ms. Ceruti for overseeing this special event and thanks to the community for coming out on a chilly night to support the hometown Wild Frogs!
