Congratulations to Carle Place Middle/High School senior Gavin Manganiello, winner of the 2019 Joseph Adams Senior Scholarship from the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, which recognizes high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese.

Gavin is being honored for his dedication and excellent skills in his studies of Spanish. He is enrolled in Spanish AP and is also in his second year as an officer of the Spanish Honor Society.

The Joseph Adams scholarship award, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, was presented to only 60 students from over 2,400 Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica chapters across the United States this year. Carle Place High School has a long history of excellence in the study of languages and has maintained an active chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica for decades.

“Congratulations to Gavin on this very impressive feat,” said Carle Place Spanish Honor Society adviser Rosa Perifimos, who has been Gavin’s teacher the past two years. “His accomplishment has put Carle Place on the map once again.”
