After weeks of planning, the Carle Place English as a New Language Department hosted the annual ENL family outreach program at the Westbury Memorial Library, where students from all three Carle Place school buildings joined together to learn more about the library services and programs.

Carle Place staff members donated books for students to take home to extend their own personal libraries. Students also toured the children’s and adult libraries, and parents had the opportunity to get to know one another and apply for library cards. Every student on hand won a raffled prize donated by local stores including Angelo’s Pizzeria, Bagel Boss, Casa di Fratelli, Hale and Hearty, Lisbon Cafe, Panera Bread, Shiro of Japan, Starbucks, Stop & Shop and Wendy’s.

“This has been the biggest turnout yet,” said James Fisher, chairperson of English 7-12 and English as a Second Language K-12. “We hope to continue to build and strengthen our ENL families within the Carle Place community.”

Special thanks to Ms. Acierno, Mrs. Barracato, Mrs. Dintino, Mrs. Rusinyak and Mr. Valdivia of the ENL department for putting this event together.
