Mission Statement

The Athletic Department at Carle Place Middle School/High School views interscholastic athletics as an opportunity for student participation in an organized, competitive, and fun environment. While the ultimate goal of athletic competition is to strive for victory, the achievement of objectives such as fair play, sportsmanship, skill acquisition, and work ethic cannot be overlooked. Longstanding traditions are founded upon the concepts of pride, respect, dedication, character and loyalty. Coaches, athletes, and parents alike must strive to ensure that the athletic teams of Carle Place represent themselves in a manner that is conducive to both competitive spirit and good sportsmanship.

Go Frogs!

Building and central administrators, coaches, family and friends gathered in the Carle Place Middle/High School multipurpose room on May 5th to watch as seven seniors officially made their college commitments to collegiate teams. The special occasion was organized by the district’s Director of Athletics James San Filippo.

The seniors were stationed at a long table at the front of the room which was decorated with their name plates featuring their future school logo and green and white balloons. Carle Place Middle/High School Principal Thomas DePaola opened the event by welcoming everyone in attendance and introducing Mr. San Filippo.

“What these student athletes have accomplished is something special,” Mr. San Filippo said. “A very small amount of athletes are able to move on and be able to play at the collegiate level.”

Student-athletes who signed their National Letter of Intent included:

Mia Babino – SUNY Cortland, Field Hockey

Christopher DeMicco – Johnson and Wales University, Lacrosse

Olivia Docyk – Adelphi University, Field Hockey

Luke Mun – SUNY Farmingdale, Men’s Tennis

Christian Rincon – SUNY Old Westbury, Soccer

Lauren Szalkowski – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Track and Field

Tommy Venezia – Fairleigh Dickinson University, Soccer

Each shared a short speech about their time in Carle Place and their hopes for their

teammates. The student-athletes also thanked their coaches, family and friends for their support. Mr. San Filippo shared the athletic achievements of each of the seniors and congratulated them on this next chapter.

Afterwards, all attendees were able to enjoy some treats and refreshments at individual tables around the room – each one decorated for one of the student-athletes in their future school colors, banners, merchandise and more. It was a special way to celebrate each senior individually. This marked the first year that the high school celebrated in such a way based on Mr. San Filippo’s vision and hard work.

The Carle Place School District congratulates all the student-athletes on their college commitments and wishes them the best of luck.
