Cherry Lane kindergarten teacher Mrs. Amanda Tavares coordinated a schoolwide activity, where students made heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards for Nassau County’s Valentine’s Day for Veterans program. The school crafted 203 cards, which will be distributed to veterans throughout the county.

This was a great opportunity for students to learn about the sacrifices veterans make to keep the country safe, while also strengthening their writing skills. In addition, they discussed the importance of giving thanks to veterans so that they know they are appreciated.
