High school students in the Med Tech club and their advisers Mrs. Lauren Palma and Mrs. Lorayne Feit participated in this year’s SPARK! Northwell Health Challenge virtually.

This year’s topic was Healthcare Heroes - COVID Edition, which spotlighted many of the key roles, both clinical and non-clinical, that were invaluable during the pandemic. The event featured a virtual career day where students heard from family medicine physicians, emergency room physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses and emergency medical technicians. Students were able to preview these career paths through a COVID-19 lens. The career day included engaging presentations by professionals in the field, as they shared some of the greatest challenges faced during the pandemic.

Following the career day, students cultivated essential skills, such as teamwork and communication, by working together on a group project. The student team will showcase their work to all event participants and judges at the virtual SPARK! Challenge contest in April.
