School Counselor

Mr. Santoro graduated with his Master’s degree in School Counseling from New York Institute of Technology in 2006. He came to Carle Place Middle School after working in Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School, first as a School Counselor Teaching Assistant and then as a School Counselor. Mr. Santoro has 7 years of experience working in a middle school setting and focuses on assisting students in developing good habits and a strong educational foundation early on in school. It is his belief that School Counselors at all levels help students understand and deal with academic, social, behavioral, and personal problems. As a counselor within this school, Mr. Santoro will help to provide all students with the skills needed to face challenges and enhance their personal, social, and academic growth.

Mrs. Vlacich is currently in her 16th year at Carle Place High School. Through doing community service, she developed an interest in helping others.  She felt that pursuing a career as a school counselor would be a very rewarding profession.  Mrs. Vlacich earned her Bachelors Degree in psychology and a minor in art from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania.  She then went on to earn her Masters in Counselor Education from New York University.  Her first counseling position was at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, where she worked for two years. Her most recent accomplishment is becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist.  She is the military liason, job opportunities coordinatorand and liaison to Nassau BOCES.

After receiving her Master's Degree in Counseling from C.W. Post on Long Island, Mrs. Jacoby was fortunate to be hired by Carle Place School District.  She has worked here for the past 17 years and enjoys every minute of it.  Working with students of all ability levels is challenging and filled with excitement.  Mrs. Jacoby is the Co-Advisor for the National Honor Society and College Board Coordinator of Students with Disabilities.  In particular, Mrs. Jacoby loves working with her students during the grueling college exploration process.  It is a time of great anticipation and growth.

Mary Kay Gleason


Mary Kay (please call me Kay) Gleason  came to us from Lee Road Elementary School in Levittown where she worked in the main office for seven years.  Her experience and warm personality has  made her a perfect fit for our department and school.

Kay has been married for over 25+ years and is the mother of two children, Kaitlin and Michael and a Jack Russell named Rocky.  She loves the beach and trips to Florida where she has family.
