Principal's Message

Hello and welcome to the home page of Carle Place Middle & High School. Our school may be one of the smallest in all of Nassau County, yet it provides students with a wealth of opportunities. We pride ourselves on the personal attention we give each of our students. Ideally our website will allow you to explore what our school has to offer and who to contact for more information.

We are privileged to educate all the students who live in Carle Place as well as many students who live in Mineola and Westbury. Currently, we have about 100 students per grade in both the middle and high school. We have a diverse student body with families originating from all over the world.

We are affectionately known as the Frogs. We derive the name of our mascot from the original name of our town, Frog Hollow. As legend has it, the largest property owner in the area was named Silas Carle. His homestead, which still stands today on the corner of Carle Road and Jericho Turnpike, attracted many visitors. When the Long Island Railroad was established, there were no designated stations or stops. So, the conductor would hear that riders were going to Carle’s place. After the name of the hamlet was changed, the school district adopted the Frog as our mascot in homage to the original name.
Our school offers a wide array of academic classes that challenge students at all levels. We have many Advanced Placement courses as well as college-credit bearing courses from Syracuse University, LIU-Post, and Farmingdale State College. We are also affiliated with Nassau BOCES Barry Tech School located in Westbury where students in grades 11 and 12 have access to vocational programs such as Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, Aeronautics, Police Science, and HVAC and Plumbing. For those students passionate about fine arts, theater, music, or computer art, Carle Place utilizes the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) in Syosset.

After 3:00pm, students have many opportunities either in extra-curricular activities or athletics. We have many clubs for both middle and high school students including service organizations such as the Key Club, SPARC-Interact, SADD, and multiple honor societies (National, National Junior, Tri-M, Spanish/Italian, Mathematics, and English). Students in the Culture Vultures club explore the wide variety of attractions of our neighboring NYC. Our Math Team, Mock Trial, and Chess Club all participate in inter-school competitions. We have a total of 49 athletic teams at the middle school junior varsity, and varsity levels. Many of our teams have participated and won at the division/conference, county, Long Island, regional and State competition levels.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at either 516.622.6433 or tdepaola@cps.k12.ny.us.
