Eighth grader Madison Hoppe is the winner of the Mario Mignone Award established by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. This award recognizes those that have demonstrated the qualities of a dynamic and passionate student of Italian who motivates, helps build class discussion, and brings much enthusiasm to the classroom. Madison is considered by the AATI to be a true Renaissance person of Carle Place Middle School. Auguri, Madison!

Carle Place Athletics Make the Grade

At the end of each sports season, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association honors teams and individuals that excel in the classroom as Scholar-Athletes. To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00. Congratulations to the following Carle Place Scholar Athlete Teams: Girls Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Bowling, Girls Varsity Bowling, Girls Varsity Competitive Cheer and Girls Varsity Gymnastics.

Carle Place High School Spanish 4 and AP Spanish classes traded textbooks for tapas and castanets on a recent field trip to the New York Center for Flamenco Performing Arts in New York City.

The students of Jillian Kelly embarked on a whirlwind exploration of Spanish culture, immersing themselves in the rich history of flamenco on April 17. Their cultural immersion continued with a feast for the senses, a taste of traditional Spanish cuisine followed by a captivating flamenco performance.

A highlight of the day, students were invited to put on their dancing shoes and learn the flamenco alongside world-renowned flamenco dancers.

Cherry Lane School PTA hosted a Spring Festival for students to enjoy fun activities to celebrate Spring on April 19. The school’s gymnasium was transformed into the Spring theme event with colorfully decorated stations that kept students entertained at each stop with crafts, games, frosting cupcakes, planting seeds and a live butterfly tent they each had an opportunity to step inside!
