Carle Place seventh grade ELA students hosted the first annual Author's Chair Event that took place at the Carle Place Middle/High School Library on May 21 for parents and administrators.
Under the guidance of their teachers Mrs. Ivana Pezza and Mrs. Brittany Cottone, students coordinated the details of the program from designing the invitations, decorating the space, preparing event programs, and serving as presenters. The students volunteered to read excerpts from their favorite pieces of writing that they had worked on throughout the school year. Each student presenter introduced themselves, shared why they were proud of their writing, and highlighted the specific skills they had worked hard to develop in their writing.
Concluding the program, guests were quick to congratulate and praise the students for showcasing their writing to an authentic audience while improving their public speaking skills.
