Culinary students at Carle Place Middle/High School work with Cardinali Bakery’s Dominic Mauro

Students in the home and careers and culinary arts classes at Carle Place Middle/High School recently received a special visit from Dominic Mauro, co-owner of Cardinali Bakery, who brought a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to the classroom.

Dominic shared the rich history of Cardinali Bakery, a beloved local business known for its high-quality baked goods. He provided students with an inside look at the day-to-day operations of the bakery, including how the team creates some of their signature products.

The students were especially excited to get a chance to make their own dinner rolls and ciabatta breads while guided by Dominic’s expert advice. His visit was a fantastic opportunity for the students to see firsthand how professional bakers work their magic and apply what they have been learning in the kitchen.

"This visit was an invaluable learning experience for the students," said Erika Fallik, family and consumer science teacher. "Having a local business owner come in and share his passion for baking not only enhanced their understanding of the craft but also connected the classroom to our community."

The visit was a great way to integrate a local business into the school curriculum, and the students left with both new skills and a deeper appreciation for the art of baking.

Dominic Mauro’s visit is just one example of how Carle Place MS/HS continues to offer students unique, real-world experiences, giving them the tools to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
