Maddalena Buffalino Named Carle Place School District’s First NASTAR Award Recipient

Ms. Maddalena Buffalino has been named the Carle Place School District’s first-ever recipient of the NASTAR Award, presented by the Nassau Association of School Technologists. The NASTAR Award recognizes individuals who lead in the field of educational technology—those who innovate, integrate and inspire through their use of digital tools in education.

Ms. Buffalino has spent more than 20 years advancing the use of technology in Carle Place schools, supporting students, faculty and administrators. Most recently, she developed and led a professional development series titled “EdTech Bootcamp 1, 2, 3 and 4.” These workshops provided hands-on training in platforms such as Google Workspace, online assessment tools, ParentSquare, Canva, AI applications and tools to support English as a new language instruction. Through her guidance, educators enhanced their instructional practices and classroom engagement, particularly through advanced Canva techniques that foster creativity and connection.

Ms. Buffalino has been a driving force in the district’s ability to grow and adapt technologically and her leadership has had a profound, lasting and meaningful impact on teaching and learning.

Congratulations to Ms. Buffalino on this well-earned honor.
