During a project-based learning unit, Cherry Lane first-grade students traveled around the world, exploring countries including South Africa, India, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Israel, Argentina and Norway.

Throughout the unit, students learned about each country’s customs and traditions, stamped their passports and explored how daylight hours vary around the world. They also created themed crafts and graphed the number of daylight hours in different locations.

To conclude the unit, students are writing opinion pieces explaining which country they would like to visit for the holidays and why, applying their research and reflecting on their global learning experience.
