Carle Place High School students compete at the DECA New York State Career Conference

On March 4-6, Carle Place High School students participated in the DECA New York State Career Conference, where they competed in role-play events and completed an exam as part of the competition. Junior Emily Cunha earned a top 10 finish in one of the Marketing Communications role-play events, an impressive accomplishment in a highly competitive field.

The conference brought together nearly 3,500 students from across New York state, creating an exciting and challenging environment for competitors. In addition to the competition, students attended leadership workshops, connected with peers from across the state and gained valuable real-world business experience.

The event provided a meaningful opportunity for attendees to apply what they have learned in the classroom while building confidence, leadership and networking skills. Students returned with new ideas, renewed motivation and a deeper understanding of business and leadership.

Carle Place families also showed strong support throughout the conference, cheering on the students and following along through photos and updates shared during the event, which helped build a strong sense of community.

“These students represented our school incredibly well, and I am so proud of their hard work, professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the event,” said Toula Foufas, business educator and DECA adviser. “We truly had an outstanding group of students, and I thank the district for its continued support of our DECA program and for providing opportunities like this.”
