Ms. Theresa Collalto has been selected as the Carle Place School District’s recipient of this year’s Nassau Association of School Technologists Recognition (NASTAR) Award. The award honors educators and leaders who are at the forefront of educational technology and recognizes individuals who seamlessly integrate technology into learning and inspire others through innovation and leadership.
Ms. Collalto is a driving force behind innovative teaching and learning in the district, and encourages both students and staff to think creatively, take risks and embrace new opportunities. Known for her ability to transform ideas into meaningful learning experiences, she supports project-based learning initiatives, helps teachers integrate technology into their classrooms and introduces students to emerging fields such as coding and artificial intelligence.
From guiding second graders as they create Google Sites and podcasts to supporting schoolwide technology initiatives, Ms. Collalto makes learning engaging, authentic and accessible for all students. Her leadership also helped Cherry Lane School earn recognition as a New York state winner in the Presidential AI Challenge, one of many examples of her impact on teaching and learning.
