On Oct. 19, Carle Place High School Spanish teacher Dr. Jill Kelly received a 2026 Long Island School Hero Award from the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying.
The awards recognize individuals in Long Island’s K-12 school communities who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to creating safe, inclusive environments for students and making a lasting impact through kindness, empathy and leadership. Dr. Kelly was nominated by a student in recognition of her dedication to supporting and empowering students.
Dr. Kelly was joined at the ceremony by Principal Allen Foraker, Assistant Principal Jeananne Sullivan, ELA teacher Sam Plotkin and her family.
“I could not be prouder of Dr. Kelly for receiving the 2026 Long Island School Hero Award,” said Mr. Foraker. “Being nominated directly by a student speaks volumes about her dedication, empathy and the impact she makes in our school community every day. She truly embodies our school mantra of ‘compassion and passion’ through her unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering our students.”
“I am truly honored to receive this award, especially knowing that I was nominated by one of my students,” said Dr. Kelly. “There is no greater feeling than knowing you have made a difference in a student’s life. This award serves as a reminder of why I love what I do.”
Through her compassion and dedication, Dr. Kelly continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of her students and empowers them to grow both inside and outside the classroom.
