On Oct. 21, Carle Place High School hosted its first in a series of “Career Cluster Fairs.” The opening installment focused on the medical field. Organized by Work-Based Learning Coordinator Ms. Natalie Zedzian, the event featured a panel of 11 medical professionals from diverse fields within the profession. Panelists shared their experiences and answered questions during an interactive discussion which was shaped by students’ own questions. Students and parents also had the opportunity to connect directly with the panelists.
The panel featured professionals from a variety of healthcare fields, including nursing, social work, physical therapy, surgery, pharmacy and medical imaging. The professionals shared perspectives from different areas of healthcare and gave students insight into the variety of roles and career paths available in the medical field. Students learned about the paths leading the panels’ current positions, what they love about their callings and even the parts that sometimes frustrate them.
“Thank you to the 11 medical professionals who took the time to speak with our students, as well as the students and parents who attended. I also want to extend a special thanks to the faculty and staff who came out to show their support,” said Ms. Zedzian. “The event was a great success, and we look forward to hosting our next career cluster fair in January, which will focus on STEM.”
