On Nov. 4, Rushmore Avenue School in Carle Place held its student council induction ceremony to formally recognize its fifth and sixth grade student leaders.
The ceremony began with remarks from advisers Ms. Garland and Mr. Badaracco, who spoke about the students’ goals of making a positive impact and helping improve their school community. They also shared upcoming student council initiatives, including food drives and spirit days.
Rushmore Avenue Principal Ms. Melissa Peyton expressed her excitement for the year ahead. “As you begin your new role, remember great leadership comes from listening, showing kindness and leading by example,” she said.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ted Cannone also spoke about the importance of leadership and thoughtful decision-making before announcing each student’s name. He then guided the students in reciting the student council pledge, officially welcoming them as members of the Rushmore Avenue student council.
The district would like to congratulate the newly inducted student council members and looks forward to seeing the positive impact they make throughout the school year.
