On Oct. 23, the Carle Place High School Key Club hosted a fashion and talent show to benefit the Koolen-de Vries Syndrome Foundation in honor of Daniel Green. The foundation aims to educate, increase awareness and promote research for the support and enrichment of individuals living with Koolen-de Vries Syndrome and their families.
The event featured 85 student and staff participants who modeled clothing provided by FOREA Boutique, Dyed 2 Perfection and GOAT USA. The Key Club would like to thank these partners, as well as the local businesses that donated raffle prizes and supported the cause.
In addition, the club held a fundraiser at Chipotle on Oct. 22, with proceeds also benefiting the KdVS Foundation. Since the first show in 2009, which raised $500, the event has continued to grow — this year raising more than $3,000.
Through service-learning initiatives, Carle Place students demonstrate their ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in their school and community.
