On April 24, Carle Place High School hosted its annual Battle of the Classes: Battling for a Cause, transforming the entire school day into a spirited competition and fundraiser for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
In the week leading up to the event, students took part in a schoolwide spirit week featuring themed days such as Decades Day, Jersey Day and USA Pride Day, earning points for their grade through their participation and spirit. The excitement continued with pop-up events throughout the week, bringing students together across grade levels for friendly competition.
The day of Battle of the Classes began with grade-level breakfasts to build camaraderie, followed by a check presentation recognizing students’ fundraising efforts in support of Tunnel to Towers. After a kickoff assembly, students competed in a wide range of activities, including volleyball, tug of war, basketball, dodgeball, a spelling bee, skits and Pictionary.
Through the Battle of the Classes and the week’s events, Carle Place High School raised an impressive $30,000, with four students raising over $1,000 — senior Alexander Rothstack and sophomores Alexis Castillo, Olivia Ribarich and Duke Wygand.
The district would like to thank the Carle Place Student Organization, under the guidance of Dr. Jill Kelly, for organizing the day’s events and the Carle Place Key Club, led by Ms. Maddalena Buffolino for coordinating the fundraising efforts. The district is also grateful for the class advisors for their support and Dom’s Deli for sponsoring lunch.
The students’ enthusiasm, teamwork and school spirit made this year’s Battle of the Classes a memorable and impactful success.
