Carle Place High School senior Thomas Monteforte was selected to participate in the 18th Annual LIU Post Band Festival — marking the first time a Carle Place student has earned this distinction. The performance took place on April 29 at the Tilles Center on the LIU Post campus.

The festival brings together some of the most accomplished high school musicians from Nassau and Suffolk counties, and students perform alongside LIU musicians as members of the Tilles Festival Band. A unique feature of the festival is its composer-in-residence, who conducts part of the program; this year’s guest was renowned composer Brian Balmages.

Out of approximately 300 nominated students from nearly 50 high schools, only 120 were selected — making this an outstanding achievement and a proud moment for both Monteforte and the Carle Place community.
