Capital Reserve Referendum is Approved

Thank you to all residents who voted in today’s capital reserve referendum. The proposition passed by a vote of 111 yes votes to 38 no votes. We are grateful for your continued support of our district!

Please exercise your right to vote today, March 19, in the district’s capital reserve vote referendum. Polls are open until 9 p.m. in the Carle Place High School multipurpose room. We look forward to seeing you there!

Q: If voters approve the capital reserve expenditure to complete the district’s HVAC project, what will the tax impact be to residents?

A: There will be NO ADDITIONAL TAX IMPACT to residents if voters approve the capital reserve expenditure during this Thursday’s vote. The money already exists within the district’s capital reserve fund; however, New York State law mandates that voters must approve any expenditure from this fund.

Please remember to vote this Thursday! Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. in the Carle Place High School multipurpose room.

Q: Why is it necessary for the district to hold a special vote now for the approval of capital reserve funds?

A: Authorizing the use of capital reserve funds allows the district to proceed without another rebid, which could further increase costs due to market volatility.

For this week’s Faces of the Frogs, we’re proud to spotlight someone who keeps classrooms running smoothly and students supported each day — Laura Bruder, permanent substitute at Cherry Lane School.

Q: What’s being requested of voters on Thursday, March 19?

A: Voters will be asked to authorize the use of $2.95 million from existing capital reserve funds to complete the districtwide HVAC project in its entirety. There is no additional tax impact associated with this request.
