Seniors Jenna Maglione and Douglas Lin were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the Carle Place High School Class of 2024. These two exceptional students have not only flourished in the classroom but are also highly involved in the school community.

Jenna is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor and earned a perfect score on the U.S. History regents exam. During her high school career, she has received end of the school year awards for her outstanding performance in chemistry and Advanced Placement language and composition. Jenna is also involved in several of the high school’s honor societies. She serves as the secretary of the National English Honor Society and is the public relations representative of the National Art Honor Society. Jenna is also a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is exploring her college options for after high school but plans on studying animation or illustration.

Upon hearing the news that she was named the school’s valedictorian this year, she was shocked. “It was really exciting, and I really wasn’t expecting it,” she said. “I knew I worked hard over the years, but I didn’t think that it would really happen. It was surprising but it was a satisfying moment.”

Douglas is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and like Jenna, has earned end of the school year awards in classes such as Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Advanced Placement Seminar and Advanced Placement U.S. History. Aside from his achievements in the classroom, Douglas is the president of the school’s Key Club and the National English Honor Society. He is also the vice president of Carle Place’s Med Tech club and treasurer of the National Math Honor Society. Following high school graduation, Douglas will be attending Columbia University where he will be studying environmental science.
